Be watchful, stand firm in the faith, act like men, be strong.
1 Corinthians 16:13
Men are welcome in our church. HOFFC believes that every human being carries a unique facet of God’s own nature (Genesis 1:27), we glorify Him by reflecting that nature to the world. Men can reveal God’s glory in ways unique to their gender. The role of leader, both within the church and within a marriage, is also part of biblical manhood. This requirement originates even before the fall, where Adam and Eve shared equality in differing responsibilities (Romans 12:4–5). It is also seen in Adam’s naming of Eve (Genesis 2:23), an act which symbolizes authority. As already referenced, Christ has to be the model for this type of leadership. A man is called to lead through love, through service, and through sacrifice. This is not domineering leadership or repressive arrogance. Male leadership in the home and in the church is meant to reflect the relationship between Christ and the church.
A man's relationship with God can be summarized in the language of Micah 6:8
A man's relationship with God can be summarized in the language of Micah 6:8
...I want you to understand that the head of every man is
Christ, the head of a wife is her husband, and the head of Christ is God.
1 Corinthians 11:3
He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you
but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?
Micah 6:8
And do not be conformed to this
world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you
may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable
and perfect
